Dr Schäfer is an expert in minimally invasive surgery / gynaecological endoscopy. He is specialised in complex surgery in deep endometriosis including bowel surgery and urological surgery, clinical research in adhesion prophylaxis, diagnostic tools in adenomyosis, sonography in deep endometriosis, endometriosis classification, miRNA and endometriosis. He is a board member of the gynaecologic endoscopy working group of the German Society of Gynaecology and Obstetrics, a board member of the German Endometriosis Research Foundation, a member of the European Endometriosis League, head of the certified clinical / scientific endometriosis centre in Muenster, an organiser of the Endometriosis Masterclass 2019/2020 in Muenster/Moenchengladbach/Duisburg, Germany. Dr Schäfer has perfomed live operations at several national congresses and is a regular speaker and chair at national and European endometriosis congresses.
