RENNER Stefan

Stefan Renner is a medical graduate from the University of Dusseldorf. He completed his postgraduate medical training at the department of gynaecology and obstetrics at the University Clinic in Erlangen, where he served for ten years as the assistant medical director and became head of the University Endometriosis Center Franconia (UEF) in 2008 and of the University Gynecological Oncology Center Franconia in 2015.

Dr Renner is a board certified specialist in

  1. Endocrinology and reproductive medicine
  2. Gynaecological oncology, and
  3. Special obstetrics and perinatal medicine

His main clinical focus is on minimally-invasive surgical techniques of benign and malignant gynaecological diseases, with main focus on endometriosis, fibroids, and cervical/endometrial cancer. For a long time he has been a principle investigator in many studies concerning the medical treatment of endometriosis and fibroids as well as in innovative, medical device products.

Dr Renner is member of more than 10 Scientific Societies and has been a member of the Advisory Board of the German Scientific Endometriosis Society (SEF) since 2004. Since 2012 he has been a member of the executive board of the European Endometriosis League (EEL) and was the president of the society from 2014 – 2018. He was involved in the implementation of a certification system for endometriosis centres of excellence in cooperation with the SEF and the EEL, where more than 100 centres world-wide are certified.

He has published more than 100 peer reviewed publications. His main scientific focus is on endometriosis, specifically on the aetiology and recurrence rate. He finished his habilitation in 2010 on the topic of endometriosis and became an associate professor in 2014

Stefan Renner was appointed a WES Ambassador in March 2019.
