Krina Zondervan’s (MSc DPhil) main research interests lie in understanding the pathogenesis of common women’s health conditions such as endometriosis through large population-based approaches, to inform improved diagnostic and treatment options.
She has co-founded and led a number of global collaborative initiatives including the International Endometriosis Genome Consortium that identified most genetic variants known to be involved in endometriosis to date; and the World Endometriosis Research Foundation EPHect initiative that has standardised data and biological sample collection in endometriosis research globally. Krina has published over 150 peer-reviewed articles (H-index 70), and in 2013 was recognised as Outstanding Female Scientist (AcademiaNet, Wellcome Trust nomination).
Krina Zondervan is the current chair of the WES/WERF Research Directions Workshop, and was appointed to the WES board of directors in 2017 where she serves at the Honorary Secretary. She is also Honorary Secretary/Treasurer of the World Endometriosis Research Foundation.
