Dr Rishma Dhillon Pai graduated from one of India’s most prestigious medical institutes: The G S Medical College and the KEM.
Her special interests are infertility, minimal access surgery, contraception, and adolescent problems. She trained in endoscopy, IVF, and ICSI at Antwerp, Belgium. She has also trained in egg and embryo freezing at the world’s biggest IVF centre in Japan and also advanced her skills in this field in Italy, China, and Portugal.
Dr Rishma Dhillon Pai has been actively involved with the Federation of Obstetric and Gynaecological Societies of India (FOGSI) and has served as its Senior Vice President in 2010. She was also the Chair¬person of the Food, Drugs & Medicosurgical Equipment committee of FOGSI 2004-2008. She is the Joint Clinical Secretary of MOGS (The Mumbai Obstetric & Gynaecological society), Honorary Secretary of the Indian Society for Assisted Reproductioncological Endoscopists (IAGE), and a member of the Managing Committee of the Indian Association of Gynaecological Endoscopists. She is the Organising Secretary of the All India Congress of Obstetrics and Gynecology – AICOG 2013, Mumbai.
She has done pioneering work in the use of non-surgical MRI guided focused ultrasound for the management of fibroids. She also has the distinction of having delivered a 60 year old woman, one of the oldest patients in India. She has to her credit several academic contributions, having contributed chapters to over 18 books and published over 30 articles in leading journals and newsletters. She is the recipient of the Women’s Achievers Award 2012. In 2011 she was awarded the Newsmakers Best Doctor Award, in 2010 she received the GR8 Women Achievers Award for excellence in the field of medicine; in 2009 she was awarded the Navshakti Award; in 2008 she was the recipient of the award for Distinguished Alumni, awarded by Jaihind College, Mumbai.
Dr Pai was appointed to the World Endometriosis Society board in September 2011.
