Professor Rui Ferriani MD was born in Ribeirão Preto, Brazil. He graduated from the Ribeirão Preto Medical School, Sao Paulo University, Brazil, in 1979 and did his training in obstetrics and gynaecology receiving his master degree in 1984 and his doctorate in 1988. He did a postdoctoral training in reproductive medicine at the University of Cambridge, UK, during 1991-1992. He has been a full professor since 1997.
He is an active member of the faculty staff of Ribeirão Preto Medical School, São Paulo University, a former Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of the latter Institution and currently the scientific director of FAEPA (a foundation associated with the Hospital das Clínicas) and member of the evaluation committee of the CNPq (the National Research Council) of Brazil.
Professor Ferriani is currently the Scientific Director of Brazilian Society of Endometriosis, and is an active member of Brazilian Societies of Gynecological Endocrinology, Assisted Reproduction, Human Reproduction and Obstetrics and Gynecology. He is also a member of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine, the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology, the North American Menopause Society, and the World Endometriosis Society.
He has published numerous articles, has participated as guest professor in many national and international congresses, and is an associate editor of Reproductive Sciences.
